Romans 1:16-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Romans 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."
Corinthians 1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved if you hold fast the word which I preached to you unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
There is only one Gospel and it is the good news that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. Everyone who believes in and receives this truth stands in it and is saved from sin and its consequences.
Salvation is speaking of Jesus taking our sin and its guilt upon Himself when He died on the cross and shed His sinless blood to pay for our sin-corrupted blood. He became our substitute before God who has justly condemned us because we are sinners.
What could we do – we were born with sin’s guilt? Jesus said, “Wait a minute, My death and blood can pay for the guilt, make them free, and give them eternal life with one condition: they must simply believe in Me and what I have done, including resurrecting from the grave.”
I think this is a miraculous story (the greatest ever told) and I hope that if you never have, you will believe it and receive Jesus as your Savior, confessing Him as Lord - - - right now!
