Nahum 1:7
7 The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him.
I need to remind you today that in a confusing, unpredictable world, God is still good, He’s the best place to hide on your worst day, and He knows your name.
My father-in-law, a life-long pastor was once asked to visit a lady in a mental hospital. Having passed through several locked doors, he found her huddled in a pre-natal position in the corner of a room. He calmly approached her, put his hand on her shoulder, and said, “Mary, God knows your name.” She began to relax and before long she regained her stability and resumed her life. There is power in that simple declaration.
The good God of the universe who is a safe place when trouble is raging knows your name as you take refuge in Him. It is amazing that He can be so close to all of us at once, but He can and is. He knows every detail of what you are facing and every detail of you and draws near to comfort, encourage, guide, and strengthen you. Quietly He wraps you in His love with a simple phrase, “Don’t be afraid, I know your name.”
