He Is Our Peace

Ephesians 2:14-15

Glass ball with a scene of the birth of Jesus Christ

14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, 15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace.

Jesus dispensed Himself into places of brokenness and conflict thus making ethnically divided groups into one unified group. By neutralizing hostility and angst related to the Law of commandments and ordinances He was able to make of two, one new man --- Jews and Gentiles have together become the Church.

This victory has established peace and shows what Jesus can do in places of hopeless enmity. People who will yield to Jesus’ control can find conflicts resolved, unity replacing hatred, love becoming an abundant reality, with walls torn down. If Jesus were invited, first into individual lives, then into communities and allowed to be Lord, He would straighten out so much of the social misery we are currently experiencing.

A good place to start with His lordship would be in the Church. Ancient walls have stood too long with little benefit while Jesus could break them down and release lasting peace. Could your family benefit from His peace? Open your hearts, let Him take the lead, you’ll be glad to discover how sweet His peace really is.
