Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
I grew up knowing this verse. I actually had to learn it at some point, but it was with me from my earliest recollection. The only difference was in those days everybody used the King James Bible. And its translation says we know all things work together for good. I like the NASB much better. It doesn't leave it up to chance in any way, shape, or form when it comes to God directing your life. All things are working together for good it says because He causes them to. Just think about that. God the Almighty, eternal creator of the universe, sustainer, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, the one true God has his hand on all the things in your life. In mine, too. And He is causing them to work together for good. In response to our love for him. Why? Because we are called according to His purpose, and He is at work making sure that purpose is never compromised or thwarted in any way.
Joseph was a man who experienced the truth of God causing things to work together for good in his life. Joseph was in conflict with his brothers in nearly every minute of his existence.
The Book of Genesis tells the story in detail. When you come to Genesis 50:20 at last you are reaching the triumphant end of the story. The ways the brothers have tried to destroy Joseph are over. At last his dreams come true. He twice dreamed that they one day would bow before him, and along with their father and mother pay homage. That made them absolutely furious. But they did it. And when it was all said and done Joseph said to them, “You meant what you did to me for evil, but God meant it for good.” I love that verse. If someone is trying to do you in, there comes a day when you say to them, “You meant it to me for evil, but God meant it for good.” I've always pictured that as a dart in the primitive blow guns of the jungle.
The shooter inserts it into a long tube and blows. As that dart flies through the air it goes past God, Who reaches out, grabs it, opens it up, pulls out the poison, inserts blessing and prosperity, then lets it go on its path. You meant it to me for evil. But God meant it for good.
Now, do you have somebody after you today? Is there a person trying to hurt you or your family? Or your business, your church. The things and people who mean the most to you. Whatever they try to do may be meant for evil. Put God means it for good. And He'll bring you out and raise you up. Don't be afraid. And that is pretty near my final thought on God converting the circumstances of your life to bless you.
