Freedom

Galatians 5:1

1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

It is God’s will that we be free. Freedom is living under the enabling to do what I should, not demanding to do what I please. A lot of things are constantly trying to bind us – things like the worldly desires to indulge, acquire, and impress. Pride, anger, bitterness, lust, laziness, procrastination, to name a few more.

The Book of Galatians deals with law and legalism. Every one of these comes on with a false promise, some required action for a bait and switch exercise, then the awful realization that I’m trapped! I have traded my freedom in Christ for bondage. I have turned away from the Holy Spirit’s control, surrendering myself to sin and self-seeking self instead. Why do I do this? It’s because I believe some lying promise that the enemy has told from the beginning. His fundamental strategy is to convince you that everything God has for you is better available in the natural realm, so turn from God to the natural and find satisfaction BANG! TRAPPED! FREEDOM LOST!

How do I regain my freedom? By going back to the place where I received freedom, the Cross. There I can repent of my disobedience, surrender myself to Jesus and His Spirit, and He will forgive, cleanse and restore me. Once again, shackles fall off and I am free to live in Spiritual Reality.

By God’s grace, I will stand firm and not be subject again to a yoke of slavery!
