Exodus 13 & 14:13,14
13 But Moses said to the people, "Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. 14 "The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent."
I hope you have time to read all of Exodus 13 & 14 today, it’s a marvelous account of God’s unfailing provision for His people even when facing their worst enemy.
You would almost think the up and down, on-again-off-again relationship with Pharaoh would have motivated them to get as far from Egypt in as short a time as possible, but they were resistant to change probably because of the fear of the unknown.
They thought that knowing what to expect, even though it was horrible, was worth it. So they fled from Egypt with the Egyptians in hot pursuit. Soon they were approaching the Red Sea and were cornered by the enemy army. What could they do now? Had Moses intentionally led them into the desert to die? Really?
In a flash of faith Moses rebuked their fears and confessed God’s hope:
Do not fear.
Stand by and see your salvation which God will accomplish today.
After today you will never see these Egyptians again.
The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.
Reject fear out of your life as you believe God to triumph over your enemy, even as you silently watch how He does it.
