Bitterness

Hebrews 12:15-16

15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it, many be defiled; 16 that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

A Christian who falls short of the grace of God will soon have a root of bitterness spring up in his/her life. It will defile many people as it causes trouble regarding morals and values. One of the most important things in life is to not fall short of grace. The way to be in grace is to be humble.

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humility means submission to God with gratitude for all He has given you and done for you. If you reject anything God has done a root of bitterness will spring up in your heart and bring with it immorality and temporal values. Esau was such a man. He did not walk in grace and he was bitter. He sold his spiritual standing and favor with God for one bowl of soup. If you have rejected something about how God has made you or where He has put you, you have fallen short of grace and the troubles will begin. Stop! Go back to where you parted ways with God and repent of your rebellion.

Let Him restore the flow of grace in your life and your bitterness will die off along with moral conflicts and valuing of natural stuff. There is no need to have God resist you instead of blessing you for one more minute!
